Gulu local Government on Friday 01 June 2012 received the body of the senior civil servant Mzee AK Angelo Kennedy Banya and paid tribute to his numerous contributions to the country and Acholi during their third Extra-Ordinary council meeting.
Mzee Banya who passed away on Saturday 26th May 2012 was 80 years old. He had been transferred to Mulago hospital in Kampala from St Mary’s hospital Lacor where he had been admitted, following chest and heart complaints.
Sitting and previous councilors, ex-officials to council, MP’s and many other mourners and paid tribute to Mzee Banya with many echoing his efforts and contributions to bringing about the semblance of peace that currently prevails in the greater north and his tremendous service to Acholi region.
Banya’s was laid to rest on Saturday at his ancestral home in Wii-Awaranga in Gulu district.
