Gulu LC5 Urged public to report any suspicious illness

In the wake of the nodding disease epidemic, Gulu district LC5 Chairman Mr Martin Ojara Mapenduzi has urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious and unfamiliar illness.

Ojara in his messages conveyed to the residents of Lalogi-Paicho by the district speaker Douglas Okao, said that the public should remain observant and report any suspicious illness in an attempt to detect the Nodding Disease Syndrome in areas that are still not affected by the diseases.

The Nodding Disease Syndrome continues to devastate Acholi sub regionwith the most affected districts being Kitgum, Lamwo, Pader, Agago and lately several cases have been confirmed in Palaro, Atiak and Odek.

In Odek alone, so far over 400 cases have been reported with the worst affected village being Awelo Wang Lobo.

Ojara who is the chairman of the Nodding Disease Task Force in the district last week led a team to Odek Sub County to ascertain the situation on the ground to guide planning and development of strategies
