Gulu Woman Member Of Parliament Mrs. Betty AOL Ocan has lost her husband Michael Ocan, a retired teacher and part time lecturer in the faculty of Education at Gulu University Kitgum Branch.
The Late Ocan 63 succumbed to High Blood pressure on Wednesday afternoon at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu district, according to the family.
The decease eldest son Mr Jimmy Odoki said in an interview on Wednesday afternoon that his father had been hospitalized for two weeks.
“My father had[High blood] pressure and for the last two weeks has been in hospital undergoing medication but unfortunately today [Wednesday] doctors pronounced him dead,” Mr Odoki said by phone.
Mr Odoki said his father had also developed heart complication which doctors were still investigating.
He described his father has hardworking and friendly.
“My father was hard working and friendly to people. He loved participating in church activities and had wanted to attend the 40th anniversary commemoration of the late Archbishop of Janani Loum in Mucwini Sub county Kitgum district but wasn’t able because he was bedridden,” Mr Odoki said.
The deceased by the time of his death was Chairperson Board o f Gulu Regional Referral Hospital serving his first term. He was also a representative of the academia at Gulu Municipal Development Forum [MDF].
The deceased is survived by seven children and his wife Mrs Betty Aol Ochan who he wedded in 2012.
Work experience
The late Ocan was a secondary teacher at St Joseph’s College Layibi, Head teacher at Awere Senior Secondary School, Sir Samuel Senior Secondary School and Kitgum High School where he retired from in 2004.
His burial arrangement is yet to be announced by the family.

Why are the people dying at a young age? High blood pressure – the sodas drinks are full of bad (waste) gas it is the the reason there are so many cases of High blood pressure. It is about time Public Health officers investigate causes of various disease that have soared in the district.
