NRM Deputy Secretary General Richard Todwong has been admitted at Kampala International after being flown by a military chopper from the 4th Division barracks in Gulu, his brother Maj Gen Charles Otema Awany, the commander of the Reserve Forces has told a Gulu based journalist.
Todwong, Maj Gen Otema said, accidentally shot himself last night on his way from Kampala to Gulu after being trailed by a car, the journalist quotes Maj Gen Otema as saying.
News about Todwong’s involvement in a shooting incident began to swirl in Gulu Sunday morning. There are various and conflicting accounts as to what could have happened that led to the injury on the left thigh of the NRM deputy secretary general.
But several people who visited Todwong in hospital in Gulu and saw him off as he boarded the chopper flight to Kampala told Acholi Times that Todwong suffered a minor injury on his left thigh, with no injuries to the bone.
” The bullet grazed his thigh,” one of those who visited Todwong in the hospital said.
Editor’s note: In this story we had earlier reported that Mr Todwong was admitted at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala. We have since learned that he is at International Hospital Kampala(IHK). The story has been edited to reflect that change. Our apologies.
