Former Lira Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mwaka Lutukumoi has reported to his new station in Kitgum district where he was last week transferred as Deputy RDC.
Mr Lutukumoi had until the transfer been the Lira Acting RDC.
In an interview with Acholi Times on Sunday, Lutukumoi said he feels privileged to be appointed as the deputy RDC of Kitgum, describing himself as a ‘‘super’’ deputy RDC.
“I am a super deputy RDC because my issue is not about position; my issue is putting down the tool to work” Lutukumoi said.
And Lutukumoi has hit the ground running; less than a week at his new work station, he has already issued a stern warning to illegal gun owners in Kitgum.
“If you know you have guns, I ask you to return it to the office of the RDC. We are going to Kitgum with iron hands and we shall make killing and thuggery very expensive for those who think they can get rich quickly,” said Lutukumoi.
Kitgum has of recent been rocked by wave of crime that has resulted into several deaths, prompting the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura to fly to the district to address the situation.
Gen Kayihura sacked the Kitgum District Police Commander (DPC), deployed 30 personnel in Kitgum, offered the district a new land cruiser pick- truck and 15 motorcycles to easy patrols.
Lutukumoi said people of Kitgum should know that they have received a ‘‘humble leader who has ears’’ and who ‘‘will work hand in hand with his boss the RDC.’’
William Komakech is the RDC Kitgum. He will be Lutukumoi’s boss.
Lutukumoi was appointed deputy RDC of Lira in 2014. Before he became RDC he was a member of the Democratic Party (DP).
