A primary seven candidate in Amuru district has been struck dead by lighting.
Okeny Richard Deo, a pupil of Pogo Okuture Primary School in Pabbo Sub County was killed Sunday while returning from the garden with his father.
The deceased was among the 19 primary seven candidates of Pogo Okuture.
Primary seven candidates are due to sit for their exams on the 2nd and 3rd of November.
Ayiko Charles, the headmaster of the school told Acholi Times that the boy was hit by lighting during a heavy downpour in Ceri village.
Mr. Ayiko described Okeny as ‘‘a discipline child who always keeps time and arrives at school early”.
Ayiko said the incident has affected the school’s preparations for the primary leaving examination.
Pogo Okuture Primary is about 22 miles Northwest of Pabbo trading Centre in Amuru district.
The school has total of 441 pupils. Of these 19 are primary seven candidates. Only 2 of the 19 are girls, according to the headmaster.
The Head teacher said he expected Okeny to score second grade in the National Examinations having scored third grade in the district Mock examinations.
In last year’s primary leaving examinations, Pogo Okuture had 5 pupils passing in second grade out of 28 candidates.
Last year a parent was struck dead by lighting at the school.
