There has generally been a low voter turnout in the Omoro district woman member of parliament and local council elections.
By 11am this morning less than quarter of registered voters had cast their votes in polling stations in Koro Sub county polling stations.
In Koro Abili polling station voting started by 7:35am and out of the 563 voters, only 98 had voted by 11am.
Catherine Lamwaka the woman MP aspirant voted at this polling station at 9:00am at Koro Abili primary school polling station.
According to Lanyero Joyce, the presiding officer, Koro Abili polling station, by 11 am only 58 out of 558 people had cast their votes
In Lajwatek AA polling station, voting materials arrived by 6:30am but voter starting casting votes well after 7am.
In Abili Primary school in Koro Sub County, Aber Sharon the presiding officer told Acholi Times that voting began by 8:35 am because of a delay in transporting materials from the Electoral Commission to the polling station.
Aber added that by 12pm, 39 out of 560 voters had cast their votes.
In Abole polling station, the presiding officer, Ojok Simon said voting started at 9:35am because of delay in delivering voting materials. By Noon, 64 out of 806 voters had cast their votes in Abole.
Meanwhile the biometric machine in Abole polling station rejected the pin used by the presiding officer and the presiding officer Ojok Simon resorted to using National ID and voter register for people to vote.
“This BV machine rejected the pin so we are using the IDs and the voter register. The voter turn up is also low because some people want to first go to their gardens,” said the presiding officer.
In Patuda Health Center 11 polling station where DP woman MP candidate Lanyero Pamela voted, y 1pm, 112 people out of 690 had cast their votes.
DP party president who also voted for the first time from Lapainat East, Labongologo polling station accompanied Lanyero in support to cast her vote.
Mao says the Low voter turn up is because people have lost hope in elections changing their situations.
“Since the general elections, people have lost hope in elections changing anything for them,” said the DP Party president
