The UPDF’s 4th Division has said it is stuck with the body of unidentified man who died in a recent accident as the army evacuated Ugandans caught up in war in South Sudan.
Lt Hassan Kato, the 4th Division Spokesperson told journalists today in Gulu that out of the five that died in the accident, four had already been claimed by relatives.
Lt Kato said the man, said to be in his 40’s is suspected to be an Aringa from West Nile. He revealed that the deceased was found with no documents.
‘‘Our appeal to the community in Arua is to try to liaise with the police in Gulu and UPDF because we had his body with us[4th Division mortuary] for almost a week,’’ Lt Kato said.
‘‘Information we have is that this person is from West Nile and is an Aringa by tribe. Those who have a missing relative should come and see the body.’’
The army spokesman said the army will be forced to give the body to police for burial if the deceased is not identified and picked by his family.
Five people were killed in the accident at Jabulani in Eastern Equatorial during the evacuation exercise of Ugandans from South Sudan by the Uganda People`s Defence Forces (UPDF)following outbreak of fighting in the country.
