Gulu Resident District Commissioner, Capt Okot Santos Lapolo, has criticized men for cheating their women when it comes to sharing of proceeds in which women have made a contribution.
”Most of you men wait for the crops to be sold after harvesting and you pocket the money and give your wives only a portion,’’ Lapolo said on Tuesday during Labour Day celebrations at Pece Stadium in Gulu town.
‘‘Yet women use money for more productive things as you men drink yours with your friends. Stop wasting money and time for productivity,’’ Lapolo counselled.
Lapolo warned men against mistreating their wives.
“You will never prosper if every time you are undermining your wife and admiring the wives of others. Can’t you also make yours happy so that you work and budget to develop your home together? An unstable home can never develop this nation, “said the RDC.
The RDC cited the Acholi proverb: “Gang ber Ki dako” literary meaning that a home is better with a woman.
“I am the RDC but my home is strong because I have a wife and she encourages me to do more. So men if you want to be a successful man, love your wives and appreciate them too to be productive.”

Thank you for reiterating what most men already know. There is also a song by Twong Gweno in Acholi that says: “Mon aye gwoko gang…Dito tungu peke”.
Translation:
“Its a woman who takes care of the home…Leadership has no horns”.
+++ More like, leadership has not gender specific physical features. Like, they always say a man is the head of the house. Like Why? Does he have horns?
