A witchdoctor was last week stabbed to death by her patient in Kal parish, Pabbo trading center in Amuru district.
Mr Tonny Opoka (20) stabbed Ms Lalam Christine (68) on Saturday 15th/8/2015.
The deceased witchdoctor is a mother to the L.C111 chairman of Pabbo sub county
According to Aswa Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Patrick Jimmy Okema, Opoka had been taken to the witchdoctor for a cleansing ceremony by his brother identified as Mr Abola Robert when he took a knife and stabbed the witchdoctor several times.
“Abola (brother to the mad man) rushed to rescue the deceased and was also stabbed before Opoka also stabbed himself in the chest and neck,” Okema said.
The two brothers were rushed to Lacor hospital in Gulu district.
Relatives of the deceased however threatened to revenge on the family of Opoka and police had to deploy there to avoid escalation of the issue between the two families.
Mr Olyel Justine, the father of the mad man was taken for safe custody at Pabbo police s his life was in danger.
Police has appealed to the public to desist from going to witchdoctors but instead use available health facilities.
“Witchdoctors also risk being lynched by members of the community who
sometimes look at them as pretenders,” Okema said.
He said Opoka was transferred to Gulu Regional Referral’s mental health unit for treatment.
