Prof Ephraim Kamuntu, the Minister for Water and Environment has described President Yoweri Museveni as a person with a companionate heart.
Speaking in Gulu recently, Kamuntu said, “President Museveni has been an exemplary leader who is committed to the welfare of all Ugandans. The country needs a leader who puts people first rather than those who are self seekers.”
The Minister says that because of his good leadership, the country has enjoyed peace and stability which he said has enhanced economic growth and development
He however admitted that there are some critical elements that need to be addressed.
Prof. Kamuntu adds that, “Because the President is committed to peace and stability, the country has had the best conditions to achieve growth in recent years under the National Resistance Movement (NRM).”
But in November last year while addressing residents of Bibia Trading Center in Atiak Sub County in Amuru district, the Democratic Party President, Mr Norbert Mao described President Museveni as “a bad household head who is not caring about the members of his household.”
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president Mugisha Muntu also recently labeled President Museveni as ‘a power-hungry man’ who will never listen to anyone who agitates for change.
However Ofwono Opondo, the Deputy NRM spokesperson dismissed the claims saying President Museveni gets mandate from Ugandans every after five years and that is is the reason why he has remained in power.
